From November through March, it's one of the best places in Florida to see manatees in the wild — hundreds of them gather in the warm spring water when temperatures drop. Year-round, the spring offers kayaking, swimming, and hiking through old-growth forest.
The downtown DeLand square is walkable from the house. Stetson University gives the area an energy that most small Florida towns don't have. And Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, and Orlando are all within an hour.
